Chemicals for Opening your Salt Water Pool
Always balance the pool chemistry before adding your start-up chemicals
Pool must be running for 12-24 hours before testing
1. Hassle Free Opening Kit
1 kit/ 20,000 gallons- contains 1 bottle of Metal Free &
1 bottle of Pool Magic + PhosFree (to digest organics)
Wait 4 hours
2. Add Shock:
Liquid Chlorine 1 gal/ 12,000 gallons
Always add chlorine shock after the sun sets
Wait 24 hours
3. Add an Algaecide:
Formula 500 1 bottle/ 10,000 gallons OR
Formula 6000 1 bottle/ 20,000 gallons
Remember to supplement with chlorine tablets until the water warms!!

Always balance the pool chemistry before adding your start-up chemicals
Your pool must be running 12-24 hours before testing
1. Add Scale & Stain Control
1 bottle/ 20,000 gallons
Wait 4 hours
2. Add Shock: Choose one
Refresh Shock 1lb/ 10,000 gallons
Liquid Chlorine 1 gal/ 12,000 gallons
Oxy Out 1lb/ 10,000 gallons (if you have a good chlorine level)
Wait 24 hours
3. Add an Algaecide: Choose One
Formula 500 1 bottle/ 10,000 gallons
Formula 6000 1 bottle/ 20,000 gallons
SeaKlear 90 day copper based algaecide 1 bottle/ 20,000 gallons (recommended with frog system)
Pool Magic Spring & Fall:
Great for mesh cover clean up! It will help destroy the organics from over the winter
Add if your phosphate levels are typically high during the season
Pristine Blue Opening Chemicals
Switching from Chlorine tablets to a low maintenance copper based chemical system
Step 1: Balance
Balance water to the following ranges:
Total Alkalinity: 50 to 90 ppm
pH: 7.2 to 7.6
Calcium Hardness: 100 to 400 ppm
Step 2: PREP
2a. Add 2 ounces of PristineCheck per 1,000 gallons of pool water. Run filter for 6 hours.
2b. Add 1 pound of PristineExtra per 10,000 gallons of pool water. Continue running your filter pump for a minimum of 12 hours before proceeding.
2c. Backwash filter or clean cartridge thoroughly.
Step 3: Add PristineBlue
SPRING OPENING/CURRENT USERS: Test the PristineBlue level every two weeks and add PristineBlue according to the Maintenance Dosage Chart located below.
NEW USERS: Add 2 ounces of PristineBlue per 1,000 gallons of pool water.
Step 4: Add Pristine Clean
2oz per 10,000 gal
